ABOUT THE COURSES
The courses are designed for physiotherapists and physiotherapy students who wish to deepen their understanding of movement, movement quality, and the development and teaching of conscious movement. The ability to create conscious movement is a key prerequisite for promoting movement quality in clinical practice.
WHAT IS BBAT?
BBAT (Basic Body Awareness Therapy) is an evidence-based physiotherapy approach. It includes conscious movement practice in lying, sitting, and standing positions, as well as partner work, using voice and touch. BBAT is applied in rehabilitation, stress reduction, and occupational health, and also supports the professional sustainability and well-being of physiotherapists.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
The participant:

  • understands the theoretical foundations of BBAT and its practical applications through personal experience
  • learns basic BBAT exercises and their application in practice
  • gains knowledge of the BBAT method, its principles, and movement quality
  • is able to complete the learning assignment and prepare a final report

COURSE CONTENT

  • movement quality, balance, breathing, and awareness at different levels
  • BBAT movement practice and development of internal ergonomics to enhance well-being
  • salutogenesis – an approach that explores the origins of health and how to maintain and strengthen it, rather than focusing solely on the causes of disease
  • experiential learning and the use of language in therapy
  • guidelines for 45 hours of independent practice, BBAT literature study (in English), and preparation of a written report to be submitted by 10 December 2026

BBAT EDUCATION STRUCTURE

BBAT education is a step-by-step learning pathway integrating theory, personal experience, and clinical practice:

  • BBAT I – fundamentals: physiotherapist’s body awareness and movement quality
  • BBAT II – advanced clinical understanding and application of BBAT in practice
  • BARS / BBAT III – assessment of movement quality and integration into practice when leading small groups
  • Project Seminar – preparation for the final project
  • BBAT IV – group leadership and final project presentation

After attending each on-site seminar, participants receive a certificate of attendance with continuing education credits for contact hours. Upon completion of the respective BBAT level (including independent practice and presentation of the required work), participants receive a certificate of level completion, indicating the total number of completed hours.
Part 2 of the training (BBAT II) is planned in 2027.
