Baltic Congress of Physiotherapy
''Health promotion and disability prevention in Physiotherapy''
3. - 5. December, Riga, Latvia (ZOOM.US)
''Good health is the foundation of many of the dreams and motivations individuals hold dear – to live a full life, free from illness or disease; to prosper without fear of poverty or hunger; to engage in productive and meaningful work; to gain fulfilment through education and learning; to be treated fairly without discrimination; and to dwell in a safe environment.'' (WHO, 2017)
According to WHO data, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cardiovascular diseases, cancers, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes are the leading causes of death globally in the last 15 years. Children, adults and the elderly are all vulnerable to the risk factors contributing to NCDs, whether from unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, exposure to tobacco smoke or the harmful use of alcohol.1
To address these issues, most of the focus in the Baltic region and World is on health promotion and disease prevention. Detection and intervention, the leading health priorities in the 21st century, may alert the potentially life-threatening lifestyle conditions.2
